Today is National Doughnut Day, supposedly a real holiday created in 1938 by the Salvation Army honor the women who served dougnuts to soldiers during World War I. In celebration, Krispy Kreme is offering a free donut from 6am to 6pm at all participating stores. No purchase necessary. Participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide are also offering guests a free donut of their choice (while supplies last) with the purchase of a beverage (excluding bottled cooler beverages).
